.post the fifteenth.

I finally finished up my render work today, so I had less time to draw than I've had over the past couple of days. The man is a guy that I saw on my way to work in the morning...he looked a lot creepier in person than how he looks in my drawing. I think the tree house is pretty self explainatory.

Today at work I decided my theme should be birds. I'm not sure why, but thats what I decided uppon. Anyway, here's what came out...

Today was a pretty crappy day at work, so I drew some popsicle trees to take my mind off work. I also tried to draw a popsicle tongued frog catching its favourite food, squirrels, but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to. I'm going to have to look at references of frogs and squirrels and try again.

This is all you're getting today. It was busy at work and I was uninspired.

Busy day at work today, so I didn't have much time for drawing. These spaceships are all I came up with.

I have a lot of time to draw at work today because I had to re-reference in a lot of files on my older scenes (a process that can take up to 45 minutes, talk about lost time) so I got a lot of drawing done. Today's theme was robots...or it was after I finished re-drawing my land octopus and before I started doing some graffiti work.

The very last image is a picture of a body board that I did the illustration work for before I started at my job. My friend sent me the image earlier today. I'm quite happy with the way the print job turned out.

The drawings I did today didn't come off as 'illustrative' as I wanted them too, but I still like the results. I'd like you to meet the rare land octopus. Yes, that's a fishbowl on his head. I think I'm going to have another go at the second one and make his head bigger so its more of a focal point and makes the room seem more cramped.

I drew these guys today while at work. I hadn't drawn 'creatures' in a while, so I figured I should deviate away from my regular human forms. Apparently I was having a bad day because most of my doodles were turning out like shit (it was a frustrating day at work). These are the passable ones.

I think for the next couple of days I'm going to try a illustrative style and veer away from this comic book style I've been using as of late.

I drew this page of doodles on Friday. The guy smoking is someone I saw that morning outside of Union Station as I was walking to work. The motel sign is an idea I'm working on for the cover of my band's new album.

And finally, the third post of the night. I probably should have posted this one first and the first one last to keep them in chronological reading order, but oh well. There are 2 more new posts below this one...I recommend checking them out.

I drew these on Thursay. I felt like having an architectural day because I'd been drawing people so often. The first one was a castle that I drew in the morning. Its alright, but it came out too much like my Batman castle from the first post for my liking. I'll have to look at more reference and try again.

The second image is of an island town. All the houses are in the water, propped up on stilts so they don't flood when the tide comes in. Yes, I realize that I skimped out on the background, but I didn't map it in before I started drawing the hutts and I really didn't want to try to map in a propper background afterwards when it was just a ballpoint sketch. Picture a beach and some palm trees.

.post the fifth.

Oooo...two in one night. Actually I just like separating my drawings up into days/posts. I drew these ones on Tuesday. Again they came about because I don't feel I draw women often enough. I also always have a problem with lips, so I figured I'd practice.

The 'Russian' girl in the middle is of a girl that I saw when I was walking home from work on Tuesday night...she turned out a lot more Russian when I drew her than she actually was in real life. I also wanted to see if I could draw an attractive bald girl. I think she turned out pretty well.

Again, I drew these on half scap paper so they show up a lot bigger than they actually are. Maybe i should turn down the resolution on my scanner...I can see all of my mistakes when they're this big...

.post the fourth.

More work sketches. I think these are from Monday...I decided to do an animal theme that day. I like the crocodile on the far left, I think I may work him into a final version. I also drew a ware-moose that day, but the rest of the drawings on that page were ass so it didn't make the cut. By the end of the day I was getting sick of drawing animals so I decided to draw a piano and an amp...don't ask why.

The bunny is something I'm working on for Kat...so Kat if you're reading this skip over that picture or you'll ruin your surprise.

I drew these charactures on my third or fourth day of work. Some of them are of my co-workers, some are just made up. The second drawing is of Kohji's house (guitarist in my band). It's from memory, so its not 100% accurate.

All the drawings are in blue ball point pen on recycled paper...why might you ask? Because its free.

*note* all the drawings are done on half scap paper, but i scanned them at 200dpi, so they look a lot bigger than they actually are.

.post the second.

Alright, so I was up WAY too late last night scanning some of my artwork. I figured I'd start off my blog with some older (drawn in December) sketches.

I drew the page of faces while watching 'the Last Samuari' and the castle is from 'Batman Begins'. I drew the cowgirl because I decided I don't draw women nearly often enough. As for the pirate wench, I just felt like drawing a hot pirate wench. She's actually drawn in non-repo blue and hasn't been cleaned up, but I had to change the file to greyscale after I scanned it to get her to show up

I figured since I spend about 1/4 of my day at work drawing while I'm waiting for animation files to open or flipbook to render out previews for blocking, I'd start posting some of my work online...as soon as I'm done dinner...and playing bass...and scanning my work. You'd better wait and just check back tomorrow.
